What is the culture at PNW Premier?
At PNW Premier, we're building more than volleyball teams—we're building a community.
We believe the best club experiences happen when athletes, families, coaches, and staff are all invested in something bigger than themselves. While we are passionate about developing skilled volleyball players, our greatest goal is to help young athletes become confident, resilient, respectful leaders both on and off the court.
Our culture is built on:
- Open and respectful communication.
- Commitment to one another.
- Encouragement over comparison.
- Growth over perfection.
- Supporting every athlete, regardless of their current skill level.
We strive to create an environment where every athlete feels seen, valued, and challenged. Whether an athlete is new to club volleyball or pursuing collegiate opportunities, they deserve to be coached with the same level of care, respect, and investment.
We also believe that a successful club isn't built by one coach or one exceptional team. It is built by families who cheer for one another, athletes who celebrate each other's success, and coaches who collaborate rather than compete. The strength of PNW Premier comes from the people who choose to invest in our culture every day.
Competition is earned through the commitment our athletes bring to practice, their willingness to embrace coaching, and the work they put in long after practice ends. Our responsibility is to provide the environment, coaching, and opportunities to help them reach their potential.
Above all, we want PNW Premier to be a place where athletes create lifelong memories, friendships are formed, and families genuinely enjoy being part of the journey. We are committed to fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere where negativity and drama have no place, and where honest communication, mutual respect, and a shared love for the game guide everything we do.
We're not just building volleyball teams—we're building a community. We invite every family to help us create something special that our athletes will remember long after their playing days are over.

In addition, athletes will have opportunities to participate in:
- No cost additional positional training (1–2 Fridays per month)

What tournaments do teams attend?
Tournament schedules vary by age group and competitive level. Most teams compete in local Puget Sound Region events, while select teams may travel to tournaments in Oregon or elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
This season, every PNW Premier team will compete at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier (PNQ) in Spokane, giving all of our athletes the opportunity to experience one of the region's premier volleyball events.
At PNW Premier, we are intentional about our tournament selection. While we believe in challenging our athletes against higher levels of competition, we are also mindful of the financial commitment travel places on families. Our goal is to limit unnecessary travel and expenses while hand-selecting tournaments that provide meaningful competition, strong developmental experiences, and increased exposure to high-level volleyball and collegiate recruiting environments.
Final tournament schedules are determined after teams are formed and are designed to provide the best competitive and developmental experience for each team. We believe athletes grow when they are challenged, and this season we are committed to elevating the level of competition and opportunities available across all age groups.
Can our team play in additional tournaments?
Yes! We don't want to limit our teams if they are interested in additional competitive opportunities.
If a team, coaching staff, and families collectively decide they would like to attend additional tournaments beyond the scheduled season, we are happy to explore those opportunities. Any additional tournament costs—including entry fees, coach travel, gym expenses (if applicable), lodging, and other associated expenses—would be the responsibility of the team through fundraising or family contributions.
Our goal is to provide every team with a strong competitive schedule while also remaining flexible for teams that want to pursue additional opportunities for growth and competition.
What additional opportunities does PNW Premier offer?
This season, we're excited to partner with
The Lab Performance Therapy to provide athletes with additional strength, conditioning, and performance training opportunities.
In addition:
- Conditioning principles will be incorporated into regular team practices.
- Athletes will have access to optional positional training, private lessons, and small-group clinics throughout the season to support continued development.
Our goal is to provide athletes with multiple avenues to improve beyond team practices.
What is a Recruiting Coordinator?
Our Recruiting Coordinator is a dedicated resource whose purpose is to help athletes and families better understand the collegiate recruiting process.
Support may include:
- Recruiting education for athletes and parents
- Guidance on building a recruiting profile
- Video and highlight reel recommendations
- Communication tips for reaching out to college coaches
- Information about recruiting timelines and expectations
- Assistance navigating the college recruiting journey
Whether an athlete's goal is to play at the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, or club collegiate level, our Recruiting Coordinator helps provide education and resources so families feel informed throughout the process.
Does everyone receive equal playing time?
No. At PNW Premier, playing time is earned, not guaranteed. Coaches consider a variety of factors when making playing time decisions, including:
- Skill development and game readiness
- Practice attendance
- Attitude and coachability
- Effort and work ethic
- Team needs and matchups
- Position depth and competition within the roster
Because every athlete develops at a different pace and each position has different demands, playing time will vary throughout the season. Our goal is to provide every athlete with opportunities to grow while making decisions that are in the best interest of the team's success.
We encourage athletes to take ownership of their development by asking their coaches, "What can I improve to earn more playing time?" We believe honest feedback and open communication are essential parts of the learning process.
While every athlete is valued as an important member of the team, equal playing time is not a part of our club philosophy. Our coaches are committed to being fair, transparent, and focused on the long-term development of every athlete.
I'm new to club volleyball. What should I expect?
Club volleyball is a significant commitment—for both athletes and families—but it is also one of the most rewarding experiences for those looking to grow their skills and compete at a higher level.
Unlike recreational leagues, club volleyball is designed for athletes who are committed to developing their game. Families should expect:
- Practices twice per week with a strong focus on skill development, systems, and team play.
- Tournaments 1–2 weekends per month, with some events taking place over holiday weekends. Tournament days are often full-day commitments and may require early mornings and late afternoons.
- Travel, depending on the team's schedule. While we strive to minimize unnecessary travel and associated costs, some tournaments will require overnight stays to provide meaningful competition and developmental opportunities.
- A financial commitment, including club dues, travel expenses, uniforms, and optional training opportunities such as private lessons or positional clinics.
- A team-first environment, where attendance, communication, effort, and commitment matter. Every athlete plays an important role in the success of the team.
- Parent support, including transportation, tournament attendance, and helping athletes maintain a healthy balance between volleyball, academics, and personal responsibilities.
Club volleyball is about much more than wins and losses. It teaches accountability, resilience, teamwork, time management, and how to compete through challenges. There will be exciting moments, difficult moments, and opportunities for tremendous personal growth.
At PNW Premier, our mission is to develop not only skilled volleyball players but confident, resilient young people who are prepared for success both on and off the court. We believe the journey is just as important as the destination, and we're excited to partner with families throughout that experience.
What additional costs should families expect?
In addition to club dues, families should plan for some expenses that are common throughout the club volleyball season. These may include:
- Tournament admission fees for spectators, which are set by the tournament host and paid at the venue or online.
- Travel expenses for tournaments, including hotels, transportation, fuel, and meals when overnight travel is required.
- Required memberships, such as Puget Sound Region (PSR)/USAV and/or AAU memberships, depending on the tournaments your team attends.
- Team bonding activities, if your team chooses to participate in optional events throughout the season.
- PNW Premier fanwear and spirit apparel, which is completely optional but available for athletes, parents, and supporters who want to represent the club.
At PNW Premier, we understand that club volleyball is a financial investment. That's why we work hard to be intentional with our tournament schedule—balancing meaningful competitive opportunities while limiting unnecessary travel and expenses whenever possible. We also provide fundraising opportunities throughout the season to help families offset club-related costs.
We believe every athlete should have the opportunity to pursue club volleyball, regardless of financial circumstances. Our goal is to be transparent about expected expenses and provide fundraising opportunities that help make the season more accessible for our families.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes. PNW Premier offers a
limited financial assistance program for families who may need additional support.
Families are encouraged to submit an application for consideration. Applications are reviewed confidentially by our Board of Directors, and awards are based on demonstrated need, available funding, and the number of applicants each season. Because our resources are limited, we are unable to guarantee financial assistance to every family who applies.
For families who do not receive an award—or who are looking for additional ways to offset costs—we offer fundraising opportunities throughout the season.
Above all, we value open communication and honesty. If financial circumstances become a concern, we encourage families to reach out early. Our goal is to work together to explore available options and help athletes continue participating whenever possible.
